Area Manager — defining your territory

How to configure your market areas so GenieScout™ imports and categorises listings correctly.

What is Area Manager?

Area Manager defines the geographic areas your MLS Genie™ site covers. These areas are used by GenieScout™ to validate incoming listings and by GeoGenie™ to detect out-of-area imports.

Accessing Area Manager

Go to Settings → Area Manager. The panel shows a list of configured areas and a map view of their boundaries.

Adding an area

Click Add Area. Enter the area name as you want it to appear on your site (e.g. "Big Bear Lake", "Sugarloaf"). Set the city name and ZIP codes that belong to this area. Save the area and it becomes active for the next import.

Area priority

If a listing's ZIP code matches multiple areas, the area with the higher priority number takes precedence. Drag areas in the list to reorder priority.

After making changes

Area changes apply to new imports. Existing listings are not re-categorised automatically. To re-categorise existing listings, go to GenieScout → Run Import Now.

We replaced BoomTown and three other tools the week we went live. The MLS sync alone saved us four hours a day. Our agents were in the CRM on day one — there was nothing to learn.
