Real Estate Genie review: our honest take
An unaffiliated look at Real Estate Genie – what it does well, where the hosted model costs you, what it runs, and the owned alternative if keeping your website and data matters.
A capable hosted platform with real strengths – and the hosted-model trade-offs an owned alternative avoids.
In short: Real Estate Genie is a capable hosted platform. This review is published by MLS Genie™, a competing product, so we keep it factual: what Real Estate Genie does well, where the hosted model has trade-offs, and where an owned alternative fits. We do not use star ratings or aggregate scores.

What Real Estate Genie is
Real Estate Genie is a hosted platform for real estate agents – the website, tools, and data run on the vendor’s own infrastructure. It is a genuine product with a real user base; the questions worth asking are what it does well, what the hosted model costs you, and whether owning the result matters for your business.

Where Real Estate Genie does well
Credit where due: Real Estate Genie covers the core an agent needs and does several things genuinely well – see the strengths listed alongside. If the hosted, done-for-you model fits how you want to work, those strengths are real and worth weighing.

Where Real Estate Genie falls short
The trade-offs cluster around the hosted model: the website and data live on the vendor’s platform, so the SEO equity you build is on rented land, and leaving means migrating out. Those are structural, not bugs – they come with any hosted platform.

Pricing
Real Estate Genie is from about $199/mo. MLS Genie™ publishes flat pricing – the Starter tier from $195/mo, Agent from $495/mo, Agent Pro from $795/mo, Team from $1,695/mo – with optional onboarding. See the pricing page for a full breakdown.
The bottom line
If the hosted, all-in-one model is what you want and ownership is not a priority, Real Estate Genie is a reasonable choice. If you want the same capability while keeping your website, SEO, and data, that is where an owned alternative changes the math.
If the hosted, all-in-one model is what you want and ownership is not a priority, Real Estate Genie is a reasonable choice.
The owned alternative
MLS Genie™ runs as a plugin on a WordPress site you own: GenieScout Engine MLS import, a branded IDX website, listing and area SEO with instant indexing, GenieCRM™, GenieCMA™, GeniePortal™, and more – with the website and every record staying yours. Same job, owned result, transparent price.
Where Real Estate Genie is strong
- Broad self-serve agent toolkit in one hosted login — Bird Dog prospecting, skip trace, a proprietary AVM, and agent calculators.
- Transaction management, a booking calendar, and listing walkthrough videos are included; MLS Genie does not ship those today.
- Cheaper for a solo agent, and cheaper for a small team up to roughly nine agents.
- Hosting is included, and a fourteen-day trial lets you start without committing.
Where the hosted model costs you
- Hosted — the site, CRM, and tools live on their platform, so you do not own the website or the SEO asset.
- On cancellation you receive a CSV export; the hosted site and tools go away.
- Per-agent pricing compounds from the first seat: $895/mo at five agents, $1,790 at ten, $3,339 at twenty-one — against $1,695, $1,695 and $2,265.
- The MLS website is a separate add-on at promotional pricing they state will rise, and skip traces and AI carry monthly caps with per-unit overage.

Real Estate Genie review – common questions
Is this an unbiased Real Estate Genie review?
It is honest but not neutral: it is published by MLS Genie™, a competing product. We describe Real Estate Genie from its public materials and reputable third-party reviews, and we describe our own platform plainly. Verify current details with each vendor before deciding.
What is the main trade-off with Real Estate Genie?
The hosted model. The website, tools, and data live on the vendor’s platform, so you rent the result rather than owning it. That is the gap an owned alternative like MLS Genie™ closes.
Is MLS Genie the same as Real Estate Genie?
No. MLS Genie™ and Real Estate Genie are separate, unaffiliated products from different companies. MLS Genie™ is a WordPress plugin you install on a site you own; Real Estate Genie is a hosted SaaS platform. The similar names cause confusion, but there is no relationship between them.
Are MLS Genie and Real Estate Genie the same company?
No. They are separate, unaffiliated products from different companies. The names are similar and Real Estate Genie launched after MLS Genie™, which is why the two are sometimes confused — but they are not related, and MLS Genie™ is not endorsed by or affiliated with them.
What is the core difference between MLS Genie and Real Estate Genie?
Real Estate Genie is a hosted platform — your site, CRM, and data live on their service. MLS Genie™ is a plugin that runs on the WordPress site you own, so your domain, content, SEO equity, and records stay with you. The simplest way to put it: the MLS engine is a subscription either way, but with MLS Genie™ you own the asset it runs on.
Do I need a new website to use MLS Genie?
No. MLS Genie™ installs on any existing WordPress site. If you do not have one, or you want a new one built, that is a service we offer — but it is optional and not required to run the plugin.
What happens to my website and data if I cancel?
With MLS Genie™ you keep your WordPress site, your content and area pages, your SEO rankings, and every lead and contact record in your own database — and you can switch the engine back on any time. MLS listing content is the one exception: it is licensed from the MLS rather than owned by anyone, so where we hold that licence it comes off the site when the subscription ends. Your pages, listing URLs and rankings stay exactly where they are, and we hand you a listing identity map so a replacement MLS feed refills the same pages. With a hosted platform you typically receive a CSV export of your data, and the hosted site and tools go away.
Does MLS Genie do prospecting and skip tracing like Real Estate Genie?
Yes — both, and both are built directly into GenieCRM™. GenieProspect™ surfaces seller leads automatically across eleven scans (expired & cancelled, pre-foreclosure, probate & inherited, FSBO, vacant absentee, tax & lien distress, tired landlords, absentee, long-term, high equity, free & clear), and real skip-tracing is included: one click on any prospect appends the owner's cell phone and email from a contact database that cross-references billions of records, with roughly a 76% right-party contact rate — about 3× the industry average — and mandatory National Do Not Call Registry scrubbing before anything is saved. You never have to export your list to a third-party skip-tracing tool.
Is Real Estate Genie really $199 for everything?
The $199 covers their Solo plan. The MLS website is a separate add-on at $25/mo plus $150 one-time, and onboarding is $499. Their homepage lists an IDX website among the bundled features while their pricing page lists it as an add-on, so it is worth confirming with them directly before signing.
What happens to the $25 website price later?
Their pricing page states it is founders pricing for the first twenty-five agents, and that the regular price will be higher. No figure is published.
At what team size does MLS Genie cost less?
Around ten agents. At five theirs is cheaper — $895/mo against our $1,695. At ten, their Team plan runs $1,790/mo against our $1,695, which covers fifteen agents. Past fifteen we charge $95 an agent, so twenty-one costs $2,265 against their $3,339 — the gap widens because their whole roster is billed per seat and only our overflow is.
What are the usage caps?
Their Solo plan includes 100 skip traces and 250 AI generations a month, then $0.20 and $0.25 per unit; team plans pool a lower per-agent allowance. Their brokerage flat plans are unlimited. MLS Genie meters the same lookups against a monthly allowance but degrades rather than stopping — the site keeps working and nothing bills past the ceiling.
What does Real Estate Genie do that MLS Genie does not?
Transaction management, a booking calendar, and listing walkthrough videos are all in their bundle and not in ours today; the first three are on our roadmap and their VA assumable-loan search is not. If those are central to how you work, that is a real point in their favour and we would rather say so here than have you find out later.
Which one should I choose?
If you want to own your website, SEO, and data — with done-for-you service, an exclusive territory, and the same all-in-one agent toolkit (prospecting, real skip-tracing, AVM & CMA, market data, and AI) built into a platform you control — MLS Genie™ is built for that. If you prefer a hosted self-serve tool at a lower monthly price and do not mind the site and data living on someone else's platform, Real Estate Genie is a reasonable option. They solve different priorities.
