Field normalisation and taxonomy mapping

How GenieScout™ maps raw MLS fields to WordPress taxonomies and post meta.

What is field normalisation?

Every MLS board delivers data in slightly different formats — different field names, different value formats, different category labels. Field normalisation is the process of converting this raw data into a consistent structure that MLS Genie™ can work with.

Taxonomy mapping

GenieScout™ maps MLS fields to WordPress taxonomies automatically. The key mappings are: StandardStatus → property_status, PropertyType → property_category, PropertySubType → property_type, City → property_city, and area → property_area.

RESO compliance

MLS Genie™ follows the RESO (Real Estate Standards Organisation) data dictionary. Field names and values from RESO-compliant boards import cleanly with no custom mapping required. Non-standard boards may require manual mapping configured during onboarding.

Custom field mappings

If your board uses non-standard field names, your account manager can configure custom mappings during onboarding. Contact support if you notice fields not importing correctly after the initial setup.

We replaced BoomTown and three other tools the week we went live. The MLS sync alone saved us four hours a day. Our agents were in the CRM on day one — there was nothing to learn.
