Adding and managing leads

How to add leads manually, import from CSV, and manage your contact database in GenieCRM™.

Adding a lead manually

Navigate to Leads in the left navigation, then click the + New Lead button in the top right. Fill in the contact details — at minimum a first name and either an email address or phone number — and click Save.

Importing leads from CSV

Click the import button (down arrow icon) in the Leads toolbar. Download the CSV template, fill in your contacts, and upload the completed file. The importer maps columns to lead fields automatically. Review the preview before confirming.

Supported import sources include Follow Up Boss, LionDesk, CINC, BoomTown, and any platform that exports standard CSV.

Lead fields

Every lead record supports: first name, last name, email, phone, source, status, assigned agent, tags, notes, and custom fields. The activity log on each lead record captures every touchpoint automatically.

Searching and filtering

Use the search bar at the top of the Leads page to find contacts by name, email, or phone. Use the filter panel (slider icon) to filter by lead type, pipeline stage, source, call history, assigned agent, or date added.

Sorting and the date cards

Any column heading showing arrows can be clicked to sort by it, and clicked again to reverse the order.

The Last 24 Hours, Last 7 Days and Last 30 Days cards at the top of the page are clickable — each one filters the list to leads added in that window. Click the highlighted card again to clear it.

Filtering by tag

Tags in the filter panel are three-state. Click a tag once to require it — only leads carrying that tag are shown. Click it again to exclude it — leads carrying it are removed. Click a third time to clear it.

Requirements and exclusions combine, so you can ask for something like sellers who are not already working with another agent, are not marked do-not-call, and are not past clients, in a single view.

Saved views

Once a filter set is doing useful work, click Save this view and give it a name. Saved views appear above the lead list; selecting one applies its filters and nothing else — your sorting and column layout are untouched. Clear returns you to the full list, and the three-dot button on a saved view offers Rename, Share with team and Delete.

Saved views are private to the agent who created them. A manager can share one with the whole team, in which case every agent sees it and can select it, but only its owner can rename, re-share or delete it.

Sharing a view never shares leads. Each agent still sees only the leads their role and your lead-sharing setting permit, so the same team view shows each agent their own matching contacts.

Saved views filter leads inside GenieCRM™. They are a different feature from the saved searches your clients create in GeniePortal™, which save property criteria.

My team recently switched from CINC Pro to MLS Genie and I absolutely love it! MLS Genie is so much easier to use and less confusing!
