What is a boundary pack?
A boundary pack is a pre-built set of neighbourhood boundary data for a specific market area — for example, the Big Bear AOR pack includes all neighbourhoods in the Big Bear Lake region including Moonridge, Sugarloaf, Big Bear City, and surrounding communities. Packs provide accurate, curated boundaries that load instantly without relying on external lookups.
How boundary loading works without a pack
When GenieLayers™ needs a boundary that is not in an installed pack, it attempts to fetch it from public sources in priority order: US Census TIGER/Line first, then OpenStreetMap, then Nominatim as a final fallback. This works well for well-known cities and towns but may be less accurate for smaller or rural communities.
Installing a boundary pack
Boundary packs are available from your MLS Genie™ account manager. Once purchased, the pack is delivered as a .mlsgpack file. To install: go to MLS Genie™ → GenieLayers™ → Install Pack in the WordPress admin, click Upload, and select the file. The pack installs in seconds.
Domain locking
Each boundary pack is licensed to a specific domain using HMAC-SHA256 verification. A pack purchased for your domain will not activate on any other site. Contact your account manager if you need to transfer a pack to a new domain.
Updating a pack
When an updated version of a pack is available, install it the same way as the original. The installer automatically replaces the existing pack boundaries without affecting any other settings.
